About This Drink
REBELS Rosso is the most complex entry in the brand's lineup, and the one designed with neat sipping in mind. Where the other REBELS products are explicitly cocktail bases, Rosso is positioned as something you'd serve over ice with a caper berry — closer to a Campari or Aperol served straight than to a spirit alternative meant only for mixing. The botanical build is specific: gentian root provides the characteristic bitter backbone of Italian aperitifs, bergamot adds a bright citrus note, oak bark gives depth, and vermouth and spice extracts add the herbal complexity the style depends on. The result is a layered bitter aperitif with orange, bergamot and gentian harmonising, and a sweet, floral finish that keeps the bitterness from turning harsh. At 57 kcal and 8.8g sugar per 100ml, it sits between the light Botanical Dry and the sweeter Dolce Spritz. In cocktail terms it works in a Negroni format alongside the Botanical Dry and an AF vermouth. The brand recommends 3cl each in a stirred serve over ice with an orange zest. For an AF aperitif that can do both duties — long drink and neat sip — it's one of the more considered products in the category.
