Scot Free Lager
A 0.5% alcohol-free lager from Edinburgh's Stewart Brewing, hopped with Saaz, Magnum, and Tettnanger for a traditional Continental character.
About This Drink
Edinburgh's Stewart Brewing has built a solid reputation for craft beer, and Scot Free Lager is the brewery's AF take on the lager template. The hop bill - Saaz, Magnum, and Tettnanger - points firmly at the Central European tradition. These are the hops of Czech and German lagers: noble, spicy, herbal, low bitterness. The result is a clean, traditional lager. The malt character is subtle and the hop bitterness sits at 4 IBU, which is well on the gentle side. On the palate it is crisp and straightforward, without any off-flavours or the hollow quality that can plague low-alcohol lagers. The finish is clean and brief. It is gluten free and available in both bottle and can. For a 0.5% lager, it is a credible version of the style: not trying to be anything other than a properly brewed, traditional lager without the alcohol.
