Merlot
A dealcoholised Merlot from France, made using spinning cone technology. Deep garnet in colour with red fruit and blackcurrant on the nose, soft and silky on the palate with a long finish.
About This Drink
Bon Voyage's Merlot follows the same template as the rest of the range: French wine, dealcoholised by Les Grands Chais de France using spinning cone technology, which removes alcohol at low temperatures and holds onto more of the fruit character than harsher methods. In the glass it's a deep garnet red. The nose leads with red fruit — blackcurrant and cherry — clean and recognisably Merlot rather than generic red wine. On the palate the tannins are smooth and silky, which suits the style. Dealcoholised reds can feel flat and thin, and this one avoids the worst of that through soft tannin structure and a finish that has actual length to it. It's not the most complex thing in the category, but it's consistent and widely available — you'll find it in UK independent merchants, AF specialists and some supermarkets. At this price point, it's a solid everyday choice if you want something red and recognisable without alcohol.
