Sky Wave is primarily known as a craft gin distillery from Oxfordshire, so when they set out to make an alcohol-free spirit, they knew what they were measuring themselves against. Zero went through eighteen months of development on a small still before they were satisfied. The result is one of the more genuinely botanical AF spirits on the market. The recipe is built around three citrus types — lemon, orange, and lime — plus fresh ginger, orris root, black pepper, and marshmallow leaf. Juniper is in there too, keeping it honest as a gin-adjacent proposition. At 0% ABV, the spice from the ginger and pepper does the job that alcohol usually does, giving it a noticeable warmth and a finish that lingers longer than you'd expect. It works well with a good tonic, where the quinine pulls out the citrus and the ginger sits nicely in the background. Won a gold medal at the World Alcohol Free Awards 2024.
