Free Pinot Noir Sparkling Rosé
A dealcoholised French sparkling rosé made from Pinot Noir grapes, with delicate red fruit aromas and a fresh, fruity finish.
About This Drink
Brut Dargent is one of the better-known French sparkling brands, and their Free range takes their Pinot Noir rosé through a modern dealcoholisation process designed to preserve as much of the wine's character as possible. No added chemicals, no heating — the idea is that what ends up in the bottle still tastes like it started out as wine. The result is a pale pink fizz with fine bubbles and aromas of small red fruits — the kind of light, berry-edged nose you'd expect from a Pinot Noir base. On the palate it's fresh and reasonably balanced, with a fruity character that doesn't lean too sweet. It won't fool anyone into thinking there's alcohol in it, but it holds its own as an aperitif-style pour. Serve well chilled. Widely available through UK supermarkets and online retailers, it sits at the accessible end of the AF sparkling wine market. A decent everyday option for celebrations or just a Friday evening.
