Cold-Brew Coffee Kombucha
A limited-edition kombucha made in collaboration with Tate Galleries, using cold-brewed Rwandan coffee over a sencha tea base.
About This Drink
This was a collaboration between MOMO and Tate Galleries to mark Tate Modern's 25th anniversary. The coffee — a naturally processed Rwandan variety sourced through Coffee by Tate's Gender Equality Project — was roasted on the grounds of Tate Britain, then cold-brewed at MOMO's New Covent Garden Market brewery. The bottle design features Henri Matisse's "The Snail" (1953). The recipe starts with a light sencha tea rather than MOMO's usual assam base, chosen for its delicacy: the idea was to let the coffee's fruity character come through clearly rather than fighting with a stronger tea. The Rwandan variety has notes of strawberry and nectarine from its natural processing, which sit unusually well against kombucha's tartness. Caramel notes from the roast soften the overall acidity. It's a thoughtful combination that works better than the concept might suggest. Available from May 2025 at Tate Gallery locations, the London Coffee Festival, and momo-kombucha.com.
