Non-Alcoholic Sparkling White Wine
A dealcoholised sparkling Chardonnay from organic Spanish vineyards, dry and lively with stone fruit and melon character.
About This Drink
St. Buena Vida is a US brand with an interesting angle: they claim to be the first to use a technology called Solos aroma-capture, which aims to preserve the volatile aromatic compounds that typically disappear during conventional dealcoholisation. The grapes come from organic vineyards in Campo de Calatrava, Spain, and the alcohol is removed after fermentation. The result is carbonated and presented in a standard 750ml bottle. In the glass, it's clean and crisp with stone fruit — peach, nectarine — melon, and a hint of green apple and pear. The finish is notably longer than most dealcoholised whites. It's not bone dry but it's not cloying either; the sweetness sits in the background rather than dominating. Ingredients are straightforward: dealcoholised wine, rectified concentrated grape must, citric acid, CO2, and sulphur dioxide. It's primarily available through specialist AF retailers and online, rather than mainstream UK supermarkets. As AF sparkling whites go, this is a thoughtfully made product — the aroma retention makes a genuine difference to how it comes across, and organic sourcing means the base wine is decent quality to begin with.
