About This Drink
This was previously sold as Dark 'N Spicy before Lyre's renamed it Rum Mule — the formula appears unchanged. It combines two of the brand's rum-style non-alcoholic spirits: Spiced Cane at 37% of the blend and Dark Cane at 11%, alongside a ginger base that uses actual ginger root extract. That last detail matters; ginger-forward drinks that rely purely on flavouring rarely land convincingly, and this one has more bite than most. The nose has toasted spice and a faint molasses character from the dark rum element, with ginger cutting through. On the palate the ginger takes the lead — moderately hot and snappy — with lime citrus rounding the edges and a spiced rum depth in the background that keeps it interesting. It drinks well over ice. The finish is clean and lightly spicy, fading quickly. At 29 calories per 100ml it's a touch higher than some of the range but still modest. A solid option if a Dark 'N Stormy or Moscow Mule is what you'd reach for.
