Mint, Cardamom & Blackberry
A herbal, dark-fruited AF spirit where cardamom warmth meets cooling mint and ripe blackberry.
About This Drink
Of the three Fire & 5th expressions, the Mint, Cardamom & Blackberry is the most unusual — and probably the most interesting. It doesn't follow the usual botanical spirit template of juniper-and-citrus, and it doesn't try to mimic anything specific. It just does its own thing. Cardamom is the dominant character: warm, slightly spicy, vaguely aniseed-adjacent. Mint arrives alongside it and creates a push-pull that shouldn't work as well as it does — the spice and the cool coexist rather than cancel each other out. Blackberry provides mid-palate sweetness without going jammy, and lemon keeps the whole thing from getting too heavy. Pink peppercorn adds a floral prickle. Rosemary is quiet but does useful grounding work in the background. The sugar syrup base gives it a bit more body than the Rhubarb & Grapefruit. Fire & 5th suggest pairing with tonic water (35ml to 150ml), which suits the bittersweet botanical profile. Worth trying if you want something genuinely different rather than another approximated gin.
