White & Grapefruit
An organic alcohol-free wheat beer radler from Bavaria, blending AF wheat beer with grapefruit lemonade for a citrusy, slightly bitter mixed drink.
About This Drink
Neumarkter Lammsbräu's organic credentials run deep — the Bavarian brewery has been producing certified organic beer since the 1980s and holds Naturland certification, one of the strictest organic standards in Germany. The White & Grapefruit (Weiße & Grapefruit) is one of their alcohol-free mixed beer drinks, combining equal parts AF wheat beer and grapefruit lemonade made with 19% grapefruit juice concentrate. The grapefruit does most of the work here. It's zesty and citrus-forward, with real juice character rather than artificial flavouring — the concentrate and ground grapefruit peel give it a slightly bitter, pithy edge that prevents it reading as just a sweet soft drink. The wheat beer base contributes a mild bready sweetness and enough body to distinguish it from lemonade, though it's firmly in the background. At 30 kcal and 4.8g sugar per 100ml it's lighter than a lot of radlers, and the grapefruit bitterness keeps it feeling dry enough to drink without food. It contains gluten — the wheat and barley malt are unavoidable — but it is certified organic and vegan. Best served cold, around 7-9°C. A solid choice if you want something more interesting than still water but less sweet than most AF fruit beers.
