About This Drink
The Savvy Red is arguably the most ambitious wine in the Lautus range. Blending Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinotage — with the latter being South Africa's signature red grape — it's been aged for 9 to 12 months in oak barrels before passing twice through the spinning cone column. That's a serious winemaking investment for a dealcoholised wine, and you can taste it. The result pours a luminous dark red. The nose has ripe cherry and a faint leathery depth that suggests real red wine rather than grape juice with pretensions. The palate is dry, tannic, and genuinely fruit-forward: red berry and blackberry flavours with oak woven through. The tannins are fine and present — not aggressive, but enough to give the wine structure and make it work with food. Think burgers, pizza, or anything with red sauce. At 12 kcal per 100ml it's low calorie while still feeling substantial. Confirmed vegan. Available through UK specialist AF retailers.
