Helles Alkoholfrei

An alcohol-free Helles from Brauhaus Nittenau, brewed with locally sourced pale barley malt and Hallertauer Tradition hops with a touch of Citra.

About This Drink

Nittenau takes the same approach across its non-alcoholic range: ferment to low alcohol from the start using a specialised yeast, rather than dealcoholising a full-strength beer after the fact. That matters most for styles like Helles, where the malt character is the whole point and does not survive aggressive processing well. The locally sourced pale barley malt gives it a golden colour and a malt-forward core. The aroma is understated: fresh bread, a trace of honey, and a delicate floral note from the Hallertauer Tradition hops. The Citra addition adds a brightness to the nose without turning it tropical. On the palate it is smooth and light, with subtle hop bitterness rounding out a clean, dry finish. Nothing complicated, but it is honest to the style and does not taste stripped out.
