Barrel Tea Whisky is an alcohol-free tea drink made from wood chips of authentic Scottish whisky barrels, steeped to release spirit-like aromas without any alcohol.
About This Drink
Barrel Tea Whisky is the original expression from a Dutch brand built on founder Rick van den Broek's two-year project to capture the aroma of spirits in a completely alcohol-free tea format. The wood comes from used whisky barrels sourced in Scotland, then processed using a specialised drying and shredding technique designed to preserve the volatile aroma compounds of the original spirit rather than simply grinding the wood. The brand describes the result as a 'liquid cigar', a heavy and complex drink intended for slow sipping rather than the quick infusion of a conventional tea. Brewing instructions call for a steep of 10 to 15 minutes, significantly longer than standard loose-leaf tea. The Whisky sits alongside other barrel-variant expressions in the brand's range.
