1664 Bière 0.0
The standard lager sibling to the better-known Blanc — a crisp, golden AF lager brewed in Alsace using hops from the region.
About This Drink
While 1664 Blanc gets most of the attention, Bière is the brand's straightforward lager: pale gold, moderately carbonated, and built around the same Alsatian hops. Brewed at the Kronenbourg brewery in Strasbourg, it follows the original 1664 recipe and sits firmly in the premium lager category rather than trying to do anything unusual. The nose is herbal and lightly spicy with a floral edge from the hops. On the palate it's clean and relatively full-bodied for an AF lager, with a gentle bitterness and faint fruity character — nothing loud, nothing jarring. At 15 kcal per 100ml, it's lighter calorically than the Blanc 0.0, which reflects the simpler grain bill. It's widely available in UK supermarkets and increasingly on draught, which is where it performs best. As AF lagers go, it's one of the more polished mainstream options — not going to surprise anyone, but reliable.
