About This Drink
Before Mash Gang moved into more elaborate pastry stout territory, this was the dark option: a straightforward stout brewed to 0.5% using roasted malts alongside barley, wheat and oats. No fruit additions, no flavour extras, just a properly dark beer with a clean grain structure. It pours near-opaque with a tan head. The aroma is roasted grain and dark chocolate, unfussy and direct. On the palate, the roast comes through dry and slightly bitter, with the oats lending a smoothness that keeps the body from going thin. There's no sweetness competing with the core character. The finish is dry with a lingering roast note. It's an honest entry-level stout in the Mash Gang range, and none the worse for being uncomplicated.
