Botanical
A pre-mixed alcohol-free gin and tonic from South Africa, built on redistilled juniper and spiced up with orange peel, cloves, cardamom, allspice, and star anise.
About This Drink
The Duchess Botanical is the brand's original flavour, created in Amsterdam in 2016 by South African Johannes Le Roux, who spotted the gap between the then-booming gin and tonic trend and a total absence of decent non-alcoholic alternatives. Rather than flavour extracts in tonic, the range is built around redistilled juniper — the same approach used across the G&T trio. The Botanical is the most traditional of the three. Cardamom and allspice give it a warm, baking-spice character, while orange peel brings a slightly bitter citrus edge. Cloves and star anise sit in the background rather than dominating; the result is a reasonably convincing G&T profile without the alcohol. It's dry, lightly sweet from stevia rather than sugar, and not cloying. It comes in cans, which makes it easy to serve at events or keep in the fridge. At around 18 calories per 100ml with very little sugar, it's one of the lighter AF options on the market. Suitable for vegans and gluten-free.
