Ambar is a Spanish alcohol-free beer brand from La Zaragozana, the independent Zaragoza brewery that released Spain's first 0.0% beer in 1976 and went on to produce the world's first gluten-free alcohol-free beer in 2011.

La Zaragozana was established in 1900, when a group of investors brought in German brewmaster Charles Schlaffer to run the operation. The brewery has never moved. More than 125 years later, it still occupies the same site in Zaragoza's San José neighbourhood, with its own malting facility and the only open vat fermentation room still running anywhere in Spain. It remains independent and family-owned, a rarity in a sector where most century-old regional breweries have been absorbed by global groups.

The alcohol-free story starts early. Ambar Sin launched in 1976, commercially the first non-alcoholic beer in Spain, predating the current AF movement by several decades. The Triple Zero range, which followed, takes its name from three simultaneous commitments: zero alcohol, zero sugar, and zero CO2 emissions in production. The standout variant is the Triple Zero Sin Gluten, which guarantees less than 6 parts per million of gluten and in 2015 became the only Spanish beer to hold ELS certification from the Federation of Celiac Associations of Spain (FACE). The dealcoholisation step uses vacuum distillation at low temperature and pressure, with no exposure to heat, light, or oxygen, which preserves the fermentation character that most cheap AF lagers strip out.

The product uses palatinose (isomaltulose) in place of conventional sugar, a slow-release carbohydrate that keeps the residual sweetness from spiking. That formulation choice, introduced in 2015, matters for the celiacs and health-focused drinkers who make up Ambar's core AF audience.

In the UK, the range appears at specialist retailers including Dry Drinker and The Alcohol Free Co, with the Triple Zero Tostada and Radler Triple Zero among the listed AF beers available online. The positioning is premium Spanish import rather than budget lager. For anyone managing a strict 0.0% requirement alongside a gluten-free diet, Ambar is one of very few options with certification to back the label claim.
