GUTsy Captain Kombucha

Kombucha is produced by fermenting sweetened tea with a SCOBY (a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast), and GUTsy Captain builds its process around an in-house culture rather than a commercially sourced one. The brand uses a longer fermentation period, allowing more time for the bacteria and yeasts to work through the organic green tea and brown cane sugar base. Production takes place using traditional hand-batch methods at the facility in Évora.

Every drink is made with 100% natural ingredients and contains no artificial colours or flavours. GUTsy Captain Kombucha includes Bacillus coagulans, a live bacterium, and positions its drinks as suitable for consumption during pregnancy, extending the reach to consumers who might otherwise approach live-culture beverages with caution.

Alongside its kombucha range, the brand also produces SLAP prebiotic soft drinks, broadening its offering within the gut-health beverage category.
