Surely

Surely is an alcohol-free wine brand based in California, co-founded in late 2020 by Ryan Hanson and Justin Mares. Hanson set out to make an alcohol-free wine that people would look forward to drinking, and the brand has grown to a team of 14, backed by venture capital.

Grapes are sourced from the California coast and go through the same fermentation process used in conventional winemaking. Once fermentation is complete, the alcohol is removed through vacuum distillation, meaning the wine is heated under reduced pressure so the alcohol evaporates at a lower temperature without stripping the wine of its character. The dealcoholised base is then blended with organic teas, botanicals and other natural ingredients. In 2024, Surely opened a lab in Northern California.

The range centres on sparkling wines, including a sparkling rosé. Positioned for sober-curious drinkers who want a wine-format option without alcohol, Surely is sold online and through over 1,400 retail stores across the United States.
