Blackjack Brewing Co started in Manchester in 2012 and built a reputation for balanced, hop-forward beers. Electric Circus is their alcohol-free pale ale, and it follows the same instincts as the rest of their range: the hop character is clear and specific rather than generic, with grapefruit and lemon zest leading the aroma alongside light tropical fruit and a faint pine note. The bitterness is there, but it is kept in check. That restraint is a deliberate design choice rather than a failure of nerve — the balance between the citrus hop character and the clean malt base is the point. The finish is hop-driven but does not linger aggressively, which makes it easy to drink across an evening without the bitterness building to a tiresome level.
