BLÅ
A 0% Danish sparkling tea blending jasmine, Darjeeling, white and green teas with organic grape juice, positioned as an alternative to sparkling white wine.
About This Drink
Copenhagen Sparkling Tea Company make three AF sparkling teas and BLÅ (meaning blue in Danish) is the closest to a sparkling white wine substitute. It's built from a blend of jasmine and Darjeeling black teas alongside white and green teas, with organic grape juice and lemon juice for body and a touch of natural sweetness. All ingredients are certified organic. The approach is genuinely different from most AF wine alternatives that lean on grape-based products. Here, tea is the primary ingredient and the backbone of the flavour. The carbonation is deliberately wine-like — fine bubbles, 5 bars of pressure — rather than beer-fizzy. The palate has honey, guava and jasmine character with enough complexity to hold interest across a glass. At 20 calories per 100ml and 5g sugar it's comparable to a dry sparkling wine in calorie terms. Vegan, gluten-free, organic. Served in a 75cl bottle at the table it reads credibly as a wine alternative for guests who aren't drinking. Priced at a premium; you're paying for the category as much as the product.
