Sparkling White Rose
A sparkling kombucha from LA Brewery inspired by English sparkling wine, with elderflower, rose and apple on a six-week fermented green tea base.
About This Drink
LA Brewery's White Rose is the brand at its most wine-facing — a 750ml bottle, a pale pink appearance, and a flavour profile built to sit comfortably at a dinner table. Technically it's a kombucha, made by fermenting fair-trade sencha green tea for six weeks before blending with elderflower, rose, apple and lychee. The result sits well below 0.5% ABV from the fermentation. The nose leads with delicate elderflower and rose, which is gentle rather than perfumed, and backed by a light apple freshness. On the palate the kombucha tartness provides the backbone — this has more grip than most non-alcoholic wines — and the floral and fruit notes sit on top of that structured acidity. Fine carbonation keeps it lively. The finish is tart and clean. It won Silver at the World Alcohol-Free Awards and two Great Taste stars, which reflects how seriously the brand takes the production process. If you want something that can plausibly stand in for a glass of English sparkling at a dinner party, this is a more interesting option than most dealcoholised wines.
