About This Drink
Sea Arch was founded in Devon and their Coastal Juniper spirit is built around a sense of place: juniper anchors the base, but it is the addition of sea kelp, samphire, blood orange, cardamom, and coriander that give it a distinctly coastal, saline quality that sets it apart from most AF gin alternatives. The whole botanical blend is distilled, giving it more integration than infusion-only products. On the nose it is complex — juniper leads, followed by a fresh marine note from the kelp and samphire, then a citrus lift from the blood orange. In the mouth the botanicals unfold in layers: juniper and grapefruit bitterness first, then a warm spice from cardamom, with the coastal herbs giving a lingering saline freshness. It has real length for an AF spirit. Perhaps most remarkably, it is genuinely zero calories and zero sugar — the botanicals are distilled into water with no added sweeteners. That makes it an outlier in the category, where most AF spirits rely on glycerin or sugar-based carriers to add body. The lack of that sweetener-derived weight means the texture is lighter than some alternatives, but the flavour stands on its own. Available at Ocado, Harvey Nichols, and direct from seaarchdrinks.com.
