About This Drink
Most non-alcoholic spirits start as alcoholic drinks and have the alcohol removed. Whissin takes a different route: the wheat, maize and barley base is heated without reaching the fermentation threshold, so the product never contains alcohol at any stage. The brand describes this as a key distinction -- it is a crafted flavour product rather than a dealcoholised spirit. The flavour profile aims at the sweeter end of the whiskey spectrum: caramel, grain sweetness, a note of vanilla, and a background of oak that gives it some structural depth. It carries more body than many water-based AF spirits -- something closer to a light liqueur in texture -- which makes it more convincing in longer drinks. The sweetness is more forward than the dry, smoky profile of a Scotch single malt, sitting closer to an American bourbon character. Sold in a 700ml bottle, it works best mixed: on the rocks, with ginger ale, or in simple mocktails where a whiskey note is needed. Neat it reads as pleasant but sweet. Vegan.
