A French AF whisky made from real three-year-old spirit, de-alcoholised in Grasse using perfumery distillation techniques. No sugar, no artificial flavours.
About This Drink
Sober Spirits takes an unusual route to making an alcohol-free whisky. They start with an actual three-year-old Scotch-style spirit, then ship it to Grasse in the south of France — the perfume capital of the world — where a distillery established in 1875 removes the alcohol using the same extraction techniques perfumers use to isolate fragrance compounds. What remains goes through a second distillation in century-old copper stills with toasted and torrefied oak bark, which brings in the toffee and caramel notes that give it a bourbon-adjacent character. The result is one of the more credible whisky alternatives around. Toasted oak, toffee, and vanilla are all present without feeling synthetic, and there's a pleasantly smoky depth that most AF whisky attempts miss entirely. It's sugar-free and made without artificial additives, which means it's also extremely low calorie — 14 per 100ml. It comes in a 50cl bottle, which makes it feel appropriately spirit-like on the shelf. Works well in a Old Fashioned-style serve or simply over a large ice cube. Vegan-friendly.
