About This Drink
The Blue Lagoon is a visually striking cocktail - that bright blue colour comes from blue curacao in the original - and A. Le Coq leans into the aesthetic here. The electric blue colour in the Virgin version comes from E133, but the effect is the same: it looks immediately tropical. The flavour profile aims at the classic Blue Lagoon combination of pineapple, citrus, and the orange-forward sweetness of curacao liqueur. The ingredients are water, sugar, carbon dioxide, citric acid, malic acid, flavourings, and stabilisers, with no beer, no juice concentrates, and no real fruit - just flavourings doing the work. At 9.2g of sugar per 100ml and 38 kcal, it's moderately sweet. Neither potassium sorbate nor sodium benzoate are uncommon in RTD soft drinks, but they're both present here. There's nothing remarkable about the drink from a flavour complexity standpoint - it's punchy, sweet, and blue, which is what you want from a Blue Lagoon. At 330ml a can it fits the party-serve format that A. Le Coq is targeting with the cocktail range.
