About This Drink
Lautus Rosé is made from Pinotage, the grape variety South Africa can genuinely call its own, sourced from Voor Paardeberg in the Western Cape — the same region the brand uses for its Chardonnay. Pinotage tends towards big, jammy fruit, and even dealcoholised it delivers a generous berry character without tipping into sweetness. The nose is summer fruit-led: strawberries, a medley of red berries, something almost orchard-like underneath. On the palate it comes across as more serious and tart than you might expect from a rosé — grapefruit and red apple provide some grip alongside the berry fruit. This isn't a poolside sipper made for sweetness; it holds up well with food. At 16 kcal per 100ml it's one of the lower-calorie options in the Lautus range. Confirmed vegan. Available through UK specialist AF retailers.
