About This Drink
Torres has been making the Viña Sol Rosé for decades, and it occupies a similar place in the Spanish wine landscape to the white — approachable, dry, and built from indigenous grape varieties. The 0.0 version is made from the same Garnacha and Cariñena blend but has the alcohol removed post-fermentation using spinning cone column distillation, a low-temperature vacuum process designed to protect the wine's fruit character. The rosé drinks like a dry Provençal style rather than the sweeter pink wines that dominate supermarket shelves. Garnacha brings the berry fruit — strawberry and raspberry — while Cariñena adds a gentle spice and enough grip to keep it from going flat. The spinning cone process strips out alcohol efficiently but it does take the edge off the textural presence; the finish is a little lighter than you'd get from the standard version. It took Best of Show Rosé at Mundus Vini Non-Alcoholic 2025, which makes it one of the most decorated alcohol-free rosés currently on the market. For a wine in this category, that's a meaningful distinction. Still relatively new to the UK, but worth tracking down if you want something genuinely dry and European in character.
