Negroni
An alcohol-free Negroni built on grape juice, citrus, and gentian root — bittersweet and complex enough to be taken seriously as an aperitif.
About This Drink
Sip Cocktails (trading as Sip 0%) positions itself at the premium end of the AF RTD market, and their Negroni — named Cece in the brand's character lineup — is one of the more thoughtfully constructed alcohol-free takes on the classic. Instead of building from a spirit base, it uses white grape juice and orange and lime juice concentrates as the body, with gentian root, juniper extract, and orris root providing the aromatic and bitter botanical character. The result is genuinely bittersweet. The gentian delivers the Campari-adjacent bitterness that makes a Negroni a Negroni rather than a fruit cocktail, and the black carrot and carthamus concentrates provide the deep, amber-red colour that does a lot of the psychological work in convincing you this is a serious aperitif drink. At 2.1g sugar per 100ml it is considerably less sweet than most RTD cocktails. At 50 calories per 100ml and confirmed vegan and gluten-free, it is a considered product. The full Sip range is sold in packs of 8, 12, or 24 cans via sip-zero.com, with mixed flavour options. If you are building an AF aperitivo hour at home, this is one of the better off-the-shelf options for the Negroni slot.
