What you get is something recognisably in the spiced rum family — vanilla and caramel are front and centre, with cinnamon and a hint of orange keeping things familiar. It works reasonably well in a Cuba Libre or with ginger beer, where a mixer does some of the heavy lifting. Neat or over ice, it's less convincing — the lack of the alcohol's structural warmth is more obvious.
