Volfas Engelman
Volfas Engelman is a Lithuanian brewery founded in 1853 in Vilijampolė, a suburb of Kaunas, and one of the oldest industrial brewing operations in the eastern Baltic region, producing alcohol-free beers and ciders alongside its broader alcoholic portfolio.
Rafailas Volfas established the brewery in Vilijampolė in 1853. In 1894, I. B. Volfas and A. Soloveicikas bought the brewery belonging to Ferdinand Engelman. The two businesses merged in 1927, and the combined name Volfas Engelman was restored as the brewery's official title on 12 April 2011. Volfas Engelman is the only brewery in Lithuania named after its founders.
The brewery was the first in Lithuania to use artificial refrigeration in beer production. It has grown into the second-largest brewery in Lithuania, a position it reached in 2015, recording sales revenue of €86.9 million in 2024. The company exports to 16 countries as of 2025, employs more than 230 people, and has invested over €50 million in modernisation. In 2024, 80% of its energy came from clean sources.
Owned by Finnish group Olvi Plc, which held 99.66% of shares as of 2025, Volfas Engelman brews lagers, wheat beers, dark beers, IPAs, ciders, and kvass across its full range, with the alcohol-free beers suited to sober-curious drinkers. The alcohol-free beers are produced using only water, malt, hops, and yeast, with no flavourings, colourings, sweeteners, or antioxidants.
